SD Gundam G Generation Advance is a turn-based strategy game with some RPG elements. It is part of the G Generation sub-series of the Gundam franchise. In this series, Gundams, giant combat machines, have been reduced to super-deformed versions of their former selves.

The player commands small groups of units in battle. The game has 2 modes: in the first mode, units moves on maps, choose which enemy to attack, and merge into larger groups; in the second mode, "battles", the player chooses the type of attack for each unit and observes the results of duels. The story and characters are introduced by the many dialogues between missions.
